We need your ideas!

Hello everyone!    I'm now helping out with the forum running, I was wondering if you had any ideas on how we can make this forum a better place - anything you can think of. Is there something extra that needs to be covered? Are certain things wrong with the forum at the moment? Do we need an extra room? Anything at all.    Its your community so I want to have your input into it.    Katie

Katie,    I'm a relatively new user of SVN via the Tortoise client. I find the usual documentation good, but missing a key element, namely, a list of the error messages and what they mean. In the document, these could be listed either along with the commands that might generate them, or in a separate section.    I'm not sure what would be the best place for such a list in the forum; one obvious possibility would be a separate area for members to post messages they come across, and either report the meaning if they discover it, or ask the meaning in case someone else has discovered it. Or, if the forum supports keywords, perhaps a keyword devoted to error messages would be helpful.    John

Hi John,  Thanks very much for the feedback, I've tried searching for error codes for both TortoiseSVN and Subversion. For the former, all I can find is a list of errors returned by SubWCRev, which is the command line tool bundled with Tortoise - that's at the bottom of this page: http://tortoisesvn.net/docs/nightly/TortoiseSVN_en/tsvn-subwcrev.html  I've not been able to find the codes for Subversion itself (though the error codes source file is available online).  TortoiseSVN is actually developed by Tigris who have their own mailing list, I'd recommend posting there to make the suggestion regarding adding error codes to the help documents - you can find the mailing list here: http://tortoisesvn.tigris.org/ds/viewForums.do  Hope they're able to help.

Yes, I would agree on JohnTate, Another area for members will be much better to post messages especially to beginners like me:)
