SmartSVN 8: Reintegrate limitation?

Hi    The SmartSVN 8 release note states:    - Merge: Reintegrate merge option must still be present   (due to current limitation of SmartSVN's Merge implementation)    Please will you explain this further? What is the problem? Does this mean that one must still use Reintegrate when merging from branch to trunk? When do you expect to fix it?    Best regards    David

Hello there David,   Automatic merge doesn't work in SVNKit 1.8 and some corresponding Subversion code was not added to SVNKit. I cannot say for sure when this will be fixed unfortunately other than that it won't be fixed until sometime in 2014, but we'll know more about this soon.   It does mean that users will need to use Reintegrate when merging from branch to trunk until this is fixed.

Hello David, hope you are well.   There is no update from SNVKit developers yet on the Jira so we've e-mailed directly to see what the plans might be and when we might anticipate some progress. Once I get an update I'll post on here so you and others can see.

Hi David,   I was going to post to you as soon as the next preview release was out, we're expecting 8.5 preview1 to be released today and it will entirely consume JavaHL instead of SVNkit. As such, the reintegrate merge option won't be present in this build as the reintegrate merge function will be done automatically and will work properly - as intended in SVN 1.8. There'll be more officially on the new preview release once it's all been finalised. So watch this space.

Hi David,  The SmartSVN 8.5 Preview Release is now available here: http://www.wandisco.com/smartsvn/early-access-builds  You will see that there are currently no installers for Linux based OS and only distributions with bundled JRE are currently available.   You will also find the known issues on the above link.   If you'd like to give it a test drive we'll look forward to hearing your feedback on it.
