SmartSVN 64-bit Problem

Hi,    we consindering upgrading our 32-bit SmartSVN 6.6 to the current Version 8 in 64-bit.  We use Windows 8, 64-bit as OS.    Because we have some downloading and speed problems with a very large repository.  Some users reach the maximum Java heap size (-Xmx1024m in vmoptions).    However, we downloaded the current 64-bit installation as trial and we observed that (altough SmartSVN is installed now in Programs instead ProgramX86), SmartSVN is still launched as a 32-bit application.  Therefore we couldnt increase the maxiumum heap sizue to 2048, the maximums still stands at 1024.      Can you explain this? Do you have to change some settings or take account of something when installing a newer version of SmartSVN on the same PC? Or is Version 8 still using 32-bit libaries?    Best regards    Benjamin

Hi there,  I think that command will depend on which version of Java is installed - did you install the 64 bit java runtime as well as 64 bit SmartSVN?

Hi,  we did just install your "64-Bit installer with JRE". We thought the 64-bit installer would include a 64-bit JRE.

Yes, it should - as things stand it's a 32 bit version unfortunately, sorry about that. A task has been raised to get a new installer built with the 64 bit runtimes, I'll update this thread as soon as that's done.

I have a 32bit a well as a 64bit Java runtime on my system.   But i couldnt figure hot to switch SmartSVN from using 32bit JRE libs to the 64bit JRE libs. You cant replace the directories after the installation, because some process locks them. The installation from SVN itself dont provides a option to dont install the JRE.  There is also no (64bit) installer witout JRE on the site to download.  So we will probably wait with our upgrade until a new installer with 64bit SmartSVN and 64bit JRE is provided.

Is there any update on this?

Hi,  There's a new release coming soon but it'll be the same deal as above I'm afraid. A full 64 bit version is planned though, I'll let you know as soon as I do which version it'll be.

The lack of a proper 64bit version is preventing me from using Annotate, which means I've had to convert my repository to git and run git blame just to see who did what when. Time to stop slacking, 64bit Windows has been commonplace for almost 8 years.
