WANdisco, the makers of Enterprise Subversion with the most active core developers from the project on staff, today announced that it had completed the acquisition of SVNForum.org - the world's largest Subversion user community with over 20,000 active members. At the same time the company has given the site a new lease of life with a distinctive new look and new features that make it easier to use.    Since acquiring SVNForum.org WANdisco has made the site more secure, added better spam protection and improved search engine optimisation - users of the site will notice the difference immediately.    "No open source project can thrive without an active community such as SVNForum.org that serves the needs of both developers and users by facilitating communication and providing accurate and timely information," said David Richards, President and CEO of WANdisco. "Given our commitment to the Subversion project we felt it was critical that we stepped up and made whatever changes were necessary to ensure SVNForum's long-term success."    "Following our recent announcements about the future development of the Subversion open source project, our acquisition and enhancement of SVNForum.org is another clear demonstration of our long-term commitment to the Subversion community," Mr Richards added.    With over 5 million users Apache Subversion is recognized as the sole leader in Standalone Software Configuration Management. Indeed, a recent Eclipse Foundation survey found that over 58% of Eclipse users use Subversion, making it the dominant source code management product by a huge margin.    Invest in WANdisco's Subversion Support Services and Support Subversion Open Source.  Profits from WANdisco's Subversion support contracts (http://goo.gl/v9AvQ) are being used to hire additional Subversion committers and support the activities of the Subversion community. WANdisco's goal is to ensure that Subversion continues to provide the features that its users want and need and that the Subversion community has the resources to support these efforts.    WANdisco's Subversion support services are backed by a dedicated team of core Subversion development, QA and support professionals based at the company's offices in the US and the UK. As a result, all of WANdisco's Subversion support customers have access to secure, high quality live support and immediate fixes on a 24-by-7 basis regardless of where they're located. This is critical when problems arise and it's the reason so many organizations that want the same level of support available with commercial enterprise software switch to WANdisco. The team is led by Hyrum Wright, WANdisco's Director of Open Source. Hyrum has also been the release manager for the Subversion project since early 2008.    WANdisco also sponsors and contributes to the TortoiseSVN project, which develops the popular Subversion client for Windows. As a result, WANdisco is able to offer free downloads of the latest fully tested version of TortoiseSVN at: http://www.wandisco.com/subversion/os/downloads    Information about enterprise-class support for TortoiseSVN can be found at: http://www.wandisco.com/products/svn/tortoise/support.php
